Find the right fit for you
We've been asked many times: “How do you choose the right therapist?”
This is an important question, because we know that a therapist will not be the right fit for every person. For this reason, your feelings when talking to a counsellor can be helpful guides in finding the right therapeutic relationship. Therefore we encourage you to ask: Do I feel comfortable? Do I feel appropriately challenged?
Questions like these can help you find someone who you can work with to achieve your goals successfully.
Here at Inner Compass, your needs are most important; If we're not the right fit, we'll gladly help you find someone who is.
The therapeutic relationship is such an important part of the change process and our top priority is client care, so if someone below doesn't sound quite right, please feel free to let us know and we will do our best to direct you to someone in the community who is a better fit for you.

Exploring our personal well-being is never easy, however it is courageous. Together we will explore your concerns, and seek new ways to create a more fulfilling and worthwhile life. My approach in therapy is to create a nonjudgmental and personable atmosphere; just two people having a conversation. I work with clients’ strengths and look to increase their abilities to envision and create positive and effective changes in their lives. I believe everyone has the power and knowledge to create a better life for themselves; my skills and tools just help to make it a smoother journey, and for change to happen in a more timely manner.
I utilize a variety of modalities to best suit my clients' concerns, help them pursue their goals, and overcome barriers. I believe a strong relationship is the most important part of therapeutic change, so that you can feel comfortable to get deeper, learn, and grow into life you desire. I offer resources, strategies, and tools that you can try at home to start making moves in your life, and start feeling more confidently yourself.
Among my favorite modalities are Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Strength-based, and solution-focused.
Education:
I hold a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from Brock University. I also have a certificate of continuing education with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Hello, my name is Robyn and I am a Registered Psychotherapist.
When starting with me in the therapy room, I care most about creating a natural and warm environment for you to feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and desired changes. When we start the work towards your goals, I use a variety of tools and modalities to find what may suit your style best. Most often, I use relational, attachment, and systems lenses for understanding mental health. Meaning I use language and tools that recognizes the holistic and integral connections between our social and emotional worlds. When we try to understand ourselves as separate and isolated, we may misunderstand how our behaviours and feelings are coming to be, and therefore, how to change them.
In this way I help individuals build healthier relationships with themselves and others in order for healthy change to occur naturally, and without force or shame.
I use modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you achieve your therapeutic goals.
Education:
I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and received my Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, majoring in Cognitive Science with minors in Psychology and Buddhist Psychology. I have also completed the fundamentals of Emotion Focused Therapy and am on the path to certification for Emotion Focused Therapy for couples.

A Husband and Wife Therapy Team
You might have noticed we have the same last name, and you guessed it - we're married! Being a couple of married psychotherapists who operate a business together makes for a very interesting life. We have gotten the question a few times if our fights are perfect scripts or if we even fight at all - and sorry to disappoint, but we fight and get "in-the-feels" just like any other couple. That said, we work hard towards repair each time because we know how important it is. Another question we get asked is if we talk-shop at home, and this section is to reassure that while we may speak of methods, tools, and readings, all records and identifying information about clients remain completely confidential, as our client's privacy, dignity, and comfort is extremely important to us as psychotherapists.
